Sometimes we all get stuck in situations where we have nothing to do. Waiting for an appointment or stuck in a traffic jam. The smart phone has become quite the life saver in these situations. I notice some people play games, some people just browse or like me, some people read. Few of us even take a moment to check on work emails and respond.

But once in a while we get stuck in situations where even the phone can’t save us. One such situation is the kid’s birthday party. Sure if your friend’s kid, it isn’t so bad because you have your friends around. But if it’s your kid’s friend, ughh. You get stuck trying to make small talk and seem like you’re having fun. Mostly, the music is so loud that you end up not being able to even talk. But then looking at your phone seems rude so you just sit and stare at the kids jumping up and down. Once in a while there may be a magic show or an entertainer who is fun, so that’s not to bad. But, seriously, I don’t know why I really don’t enjoy the two or three hours I have to spend attending some kid’s party. More often than not, I will just drop my kid off and pick her up at the end. Sometimes, though the parties are such that the kids either need the parents to be around or there’s no option to just drop her off. In which case, I have to stick around. I guess, I feel that I could be doing something more productive with that time, seeing as how I always have so much to do.

I know, I know, it’s just a weird thing I have.
