I’m not a shy person. I’ve make my living in financial sales so, no one’s who’s ever met me will say I’m shy.

Yet, I often struggle to put myself out there when it comes to social media. For the life of me, I can’t figure out why that is

I’m quite happy writing this blog, possibly because it’s anonymous. However, when it comes to writing on Medium or LinkedIn and it’s related to my business, I hesitate.

Most people who know me think I don’t interact on social media because I don’t like to. They’d never think it’s because I’m not comfortable. I don’t think most people even know I may have a shy side.

I’m very comfortable talking to a whole room full of people or even making small talk in gatherings. In meetings, I’m usually the person filling those awkward silences. I have no problem talking to people in real life.

But when it comes to posting something, I have an awkward silence.

I’ve always lived by the idea that anything in writing is sort of set in stone. It’s out there in the world for people to view again and again. When I write an email, I do it with the thought at the back of my mind that it may be published in tomorrow’s paper. Nothing on the internet is ever private.

It’s not that I’m too fickle to commit to anything. I just feel like I need think hard and be very sure about anything I’m putting out there in cyberspace.
