I read some lovely advice on the Erin Condren site today. It said “Prioritize progress over perfection” and to write this on top of the to-do list. I know this is nothing new but it just struck a chord with me.
I have always had an issue with wanting to perfect things. Big surprise, I’m a Virgo! But, I feel that this is the cause of delays, becoming lazy and procrastinating. I hardly ever see anyone producing work that is up to standard or even free from errors. No one bothers with uniform fonts or formatting and sometimes, even grammar. This is putting it mildly.
I am by no means implying that we shouldn’t be putting effort into our work or trying to give it our best. But giving it our best and making it “perfect” is different. I often realize that even my best work which I don’t consider perfect is still quite good.
So, may be it’s better to actually deliver rather than try to be mulling over something because in my mind, it’s not perfect.
I will most definitely try to put this at the top of my to-do list everyday and hope for happier results.
