Hope and Solidarity for the New Year

We enter this New Year like never before. What a year it has been. So much tragedy and so much pain. I have hope for a better year ahead yet, we can never forget all the lives lost and all that people have suffered.

I stand in awe of all the people who have put their lives on the line every day to help us. I salute them. They’re fighting a war like never before. 

My heart is heavy for all the people who have lost their loved ones, not being able to see them in their last moments, not being able to mourn. Separated from people and in a state of chaos. 

I still have a lot of hope for the future. But, we can’t move forward without remembering what we’ve lost and praying that we’ve learned something along the way. 

While I wish you a happy New Year, I also wish you strength. I pray that our hearts are filled with understanding and empathy so we can stop fighting, and stop losing.
